Mt. Hood Summit Climbs

Experience the thrill that mountaineering brings as you train and climb with our professional guides. Mt Hood offers climbing routes to meet everyone’s expectations from the novice to the most experienced climber. Our varied programs will teach you the skills necessary to take you to the level of mountaineering you wish to attain. Private dates available upon request.

Mt. Hood Basic Summit Climb

This program begins with our Basic Climb School where each participant will learn basic crampon/ice axe use and self arrest. As the day progresses we will work on rope management skills as well as team arrest. Other topics will include pre-trip planning, proper clothing, food and hydration. Our second day begins with a snow cat ride to the top of the Palmer snow field (8,500’) where we will begin our climb to the summit on the South Side route of Mt Hood (11,239’) while making use of the skills learned the previous day. If you don’t already have your climbing gear, technical equipment can be provided at no additional cost, if you reserve ahead of time (i.e. helmet, boots, crampons, ice axe, harness).

Mt. Hood Overnight Summit Climb

As with the basic climb, the Overnight Summit Climb begins with our Basic Climb School. After a day of training we will split up until the next morning when we meet to begin our trek to high camp. After setting up camp we will continue with more training prior to having dinner and getting sleep before the climb.

Mt. Hood Intermediate Summit Climb

On the first day we will hike up the mountain and establish a base camp. That afternoon and the following day we will conduct basic and intermediate climb school. On the third day we will make an attempt at the summit before collecting our gear and descending to the lodge.

Mt. Hood Advanced Summit Climb

This course takes place entirely form an alpine camp where we will teach you all the skills covered in the basic, intermediate and advanced climb schools. On the final day we will attempt a more advanced route to the summit before collecting our gear and heading home.
